Performance

Vocal Night

The final Vocal Night of the year was held on Wednesday 23 October. All the singers turned up for warm up at 6:30 pm and at 7pm we began the performances in earnest in the Lecture Theatre. The seats were nearly all filled with friendly faces of family, friends and staff. Thank you to Mrs Carol Duggan for supporting us and attending.

The two groups of Year 7s began the night with 'oldies but goldies' followed by the Year 8s and 9s who started to subdivide into smaller groupings and duets as well as a few solos.

Sophie Mars of Year 8 sang a superbly acted performance of 'Popular' from Wicked, followed by a stand out performance (thunderous applause!) by sisters Alice and Phoebe Earl who sang the iconic duet 'What Is This Feeling?' also from Wicked.  The strength of their voices and the fabulous harmonies as well as acting was a great experience for us all.

There were many lovely performances which can't all be mentioned like Katerina Zouzoulas singing an Australian song ('As Far As The Eye Can See) about a woman on an outback station, the Year 12 duet between Ella Bennett and Holly Sweatman (ABBA's 'Chiquitita') with lovely harmonies. All the great polished performances by Year 12s and 11s - Mariya Bernyk, Jessie Inglis, Yolanda Kang, Tara Haigh and Ella Bennett's evocative 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' - you had to be there!

The night ended with the choir hearkening to Christmas with 'Carol of the Bells' and a powerful rendition of 'My Shot' from Hamilton. Then the Madrigal took over (pictured) with a poignant performance of What Was I Made For? and the cheerful Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy to go home to!

Without Eric Ho and his students from the Year 9 class (Lois Crawford, Maisy Nguyen, Ely Ross, Madelin Slattery, Amy Whitehead and Karina Zhong) and Maisy Woodhouse, our sound and lighting would have not been there for everyone to hear so well, and thanks for accompanying All Star Choir too, Mr Ho! Thank you so much to those people. Also thanks to Ms Wendy Harvey for overseeing the night and playing for Madrigal.

Thanks to our Year 12 MCs who ensued that the night went smoothly - Mariya Bernyk, Ella Bennett and Holly Sweatman.

A fabulous time was had by all.
