Headstart

This information has been shared in a Newsfeed.

At the end of each school year we move into the next year's timetable, in this case the 2025 classes. The program is called Headstart which is scheduled for two weeks (from Monday 2 December until Friday 13 December).

  • Students enrolled in Years 8 - 12 for 2025 will participate in a two week program where they will attend classes according to their new timetables.
  • Students will have the opportunity to meet their new teachers, get to know each other, be clear on school expectations and also develop their class agreements.
  • Attendance will  be monitored and will contribute to the semester one assessment period.
  • Student Learning Habits will be assessed and will contribute to their semester one report.

Variations to the classroom program

Monday 2 December - all students will attend a Year Level assembly during period 1.

Tuesday 10 December - students enrolled in 2025 Year 8 and 9 classes will not attend classes on site. Instead, they will have a Digital Delivery Day where their class activities will be made available via Compass. Their teachers will be available to answer questions via their Google Classroom portal. The classrooms they will vacate will be utilised for  the Grade 6 Orientation Day program where we will welcome 234 (9 classes) new students to our community.

Should a parent of a 2025 Year 8 or 9 student have any concern about the variation to the school program, please email me directly for assistance:

Thursday 12 December -  there will be a College Assembly (College Assembly bell times apply).

Friday 13 December is the last day of term for all students with an early finish. Weather permitting, there will be a school picnic at lunchtime before students attend their final class for the day.

2025 Student diaries

In 2025 a MGSC student diary will be provided for all students entering Years 7 & 8. Students in Years 9 - 12 can opt to:

  • Purchase a MGSC student diary from the General Office ($24), or
  • Purchase a student diary of their own choice or
  • Opt to record homework and key dates electronically

To support this, students will be provided instructions on creating a google calendar at their Year Level Assembly on the Monday 2 December. This information will be shared with parents/guardians on the same day.
