Excursion to the Arts Centre
Thank you to everyone for a wonderful excursion on Friday, especially our parent helpers, Elizabeth, Cara and Pascale, we could not have done it without you.
The students had a wonderful time in a Q&A session with Andy Griffiths and then watched a performance of his book You and Me and the land of the lost things. All the students were well behaved and enjoyed themselves. We were 1 of about 5 schools to get tickets for the Q&A. All the other schools got to watch it via a live streem. We were so lucky and very grateful.
We hope they have been using their Adventeruer's Licence over the weekend!

Literacy:
During our literacy lessons we have been analysing the text "Always Was Always Will be" By Aunty Fay Muir and Sue Lawson. Students are learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ history and fight for equality in Australia. When analysing the text, students engage in reading responses and writing tasks to understand historical events, and how the language structure and word choice helps us understand tone, theme, and emotion as readers. While reading, students identify key moments in Australian history, and at the conclusion of the unit will engage in a reflective response on all they have learnt from the text.
In Spelling we have been looking at the base word 'astro/aster' meaning star.
This word builder picture below is part of the homework this fortnight. How many words do you know and do you know the meaning too?

Numeracy:
In Math our focus has turned to multiplicative thinking.
We are primarily focusing on recalling and demonstrating proficiency with multiplication facts up to 10 (Times tables up to 10). This will include related division facts and explain the patterns in these. We will also endeavor to extend and apply these facts to develop efficient mental and written strategies for computation with larger numbers without a calculator.
Problem solving questions will be provided to those students who need extension.
Cooking
At the moment the Grade fours are on hold for cooking as various classes have needed to be prioritised. However, we anticipate cooking dumplings shortly..... could be week 9?
