Nina's Amazing Contribution šŸ§¶šŸ’›Ā

A huge shout out to Year 4 student Nina Barrett, who recently sold out of her handmade knitted beanies at our Mini Market! Nina sold an incredible 11 beanies, with each one taking approximately 30 minutes to an hour for her to personally knit.

Ā

What makes this achievement even more special is that Nina has generously chosen to donate all funds raised back to the school to support our Oval Upgrade Fund. Nina's creativity, generosity and community spirit are wonderful examples of the values we strive to foster at Monty PS. Thank you, Nina - we are incredibly proud of you!

Ā

I have also been reliably informed that much of the upcoming school holiday period will involve Nina's knitting needles again being hard at work - keep an eye out for more possible sales in the future!

Capital Works Fund Application šŸ‰šŸŒ±

The Victorian Government's Capital Works Fund provides grants to government schools for projects that improve learning environments, school facilities and grounds. This year, Montmorency Primary School has submitted an application to support our ongoing oval upgrade aspirations.

Ā

Over recent months, preliminary discussions and planning work with AFL Victoria have helped us develop a clearer understanding of the scope and cost of a potential oval upgrade project. This information has been invaluable in strengthening this year's application.

Ā

Capital Works Fund applications are highly competitive and oval projects are notoriously difficult to secure funding for. However, with the continued focus on this project, growing community support and the partnerships we are building across the wider community, it is exciting to know that we are giving ourselves every opportunity to bring this long-term vision to life.

2027 Foundation Enrolments šŸŽ’šŸ«

A reminder to current families that enrolment requests for Foundation 2027 are now being accepted at the school office. This is particularly relevant for families with younger siblings starting school, or for those who have friends or neighbours beginning their school journey in 2027. The school would appreciate your support in helping to spread the word.

Principal's Reflection šŸ’šŸŒŸ

Late last month, I had the opportunity to attend the Statewide Government Schools Principals' Conference in Melbourne, alongside school leaders from across Victoria. As always, these events provide a valuable chance to learn about emerging trends, hear from leading educators and reflect on the work happening within our own school.

Ā

One of my biggest takeaways from the conference was just how much we have to be proud of at Monty Primary. Across the two days, many of the initiatives, approaches and priorities that were presented as areas of future focus for schools are things that our staff have already embraced and embedding into their everyday practice. Through conversations with colleagues from across the state, it became clear that many schools are still working through challenges and changes that our community has already begun to navigate successfully.

Ā

I left the conference feeling incredibly proud of our staff, students, families and wider community. The strong sense of belonging, high levels of student connectedness and commitment to continuous improvement that exists here is something special, and it is not something I take for granted.

Ā

Whilst it is important to celebrate how far we have come, it is equally important that we continue to look forward. Next term will bring some new areas of focus for our school as we continue to build on our strengths and pursue even better outcomes for students. A key part of this work will be ensuring we continue to strengthen clear, consistent and structured learning behaviours across the school, creating the best possible environment for every student to learn and thrive. Keep an eye out for further information next term about these priorities and how families can continue to support and partner with us in this work.

Ā

As always, thank you for being part of such an incredible school community.
