What a busy and exciting few weeks we've had in the garden!

Our Foundation students have been busy planting their wheat crop, with the hope of harvesting, milling, and eventually turning it into flour later in the year. To help us learn more about how wheat grows, we planted some seeds in a clear bag and attached it to the classroom window. It has been fascinating to watch what happens beneath the soil! We've already observed germination, lots of healthy root growth, and the emergence of bright green wheat grass shoots.

Our Mini Market crew has also been working incredibly hard, creating delicious and nutritious soups for the school community. The soups have been so popular that we've sold out every week! Funds raised are reinvested into our Kitchen Garden Program, and this week we raised around $90, which helped us purchase a Diggers Club membership for the school. A fantastic effort by everyone involved!

We were also fortunate to welcome author Michele Gierck and Tim from Native Fish Australia to our school. They visited to learn more about our pond and were delighted to discover that our endangered Dwarf Galaxias fish are thriving. We were very proud to hear that successfully maintaining this species is quite an achievement!

A huge thank you to our wonderful Gardening Group volunteers who attended their first working bee on Wednesday. Their hard work weeding and mulching helped keep our school grounds looking beautiful and thriving. We are looking forward to our next working bee on Wednesday 15 July at 2:30 pm. Everyone is warmly welcome to join us—we'd love to see you there!

Happy gardening!
