SSV Report

Volleyball: 5 March 2024
Taylors Lakes Secondary College's volleyball team had an amazing day, playing some of their best volleyball with the girls coming out on top. The team showed great teamwork, skill, and determination, especially in the final, where they made a stunning comeback to win it all.
Taylors Lakes started the tournament strong in the pool stage. Their first match was against Sunshine Secondary College and second against St Albans wining both quite easily. In the semi-final, Taylors Lakes went up against Gilson College. It wasn’t an easy match, but Taylors Lakes played smart volleyball and with some class, defeated Gilson 2-0.
The final was where things got exciting. Taylors Lakes were up against Copperfield College, and after losing the first set 20-15, they had to bounce back. It was a tough first set, with Copperfield putting up a strong fight, but Taylors Lakes didn’t back down.
In the second set, they came out strong, played with more energy, and won 20-10 to level it up. The final set was intense, but Taylors Lakes showed their resilience and focus, winning 15-10 to take the match 2-1.
Congratulations to the girls for an amazing win! Next the team will head to Geelong.
Unfortunately the mixed team didn’t experience the same success losing in the pool stages.
A special acknowledgment goes to Erika V, Eve P, and Holly S for their outstanding representation of the College across multiple teams. Their dedication, hard work, and consistent efforts have not only showcased their talent but have also contributed significantly to the continued success and positive results achieved by the College. Their commitment is truly appreciated and deserves recognition.
Tennis:
Over the past week our girls inter and mixed senior teams competed in games of tennis against other schools from the region. Our inter team fought gallantly managing 1 win and 1 loss over their games. All players supported each other and built on their skills through practice fantastically. Our senior team was victorious. The tennis they displayed was nothing short of amazing. They were very supportive of the opposition who had lesser ability players, even coaching them at times. They should all be very proud of their efforts and congratulation on their victory!
Futsal
Well done to our year 12 girls who competed today at the SSV Senior Futsal competition Keilor Division round. The girls won both of their games convincingly against Gilson and then KDC to win the tournament. The girls will now be invited to compete in the Western Metro round in May in Term 2.
It’s great to see these girls who have been in the program since year 7 having success in their final year of school with us. Bring on 2025 ⚽️
