Student Leadership Summit

On Friday February 21st, the senior leadership team embarked on an excursion to Overnewton College to attend a leadership summit joined with 50 students from many different schools.

Our day started with an ice breaker activity that encouraged networking and connection with the other schools and leaders, where we made new friends and gained insight into how other schools conducted their leadership.

Following that, we also had the privilege to receive an inspiring keynote address from Christian Bien that included his past of hardships and triumphs on the path to his dreams and becoming an entrepreneur with a new growing app. We were able to inquire about his brave journey and gain advice of how to navigate the real world and achieve our dreams without sacrificing our happiness.

Throughout the rest of the day, we worked with the Youth Leadership Academy in a range of activities such as, group exercises, networking practices, puzzles, workshops, and self-leadership methods. This provided us an opportunity to express our creativity, collaborate and participate in teamwork, and grow as leaders. We became entrepreneurs ourselves for the day by creating a project focused on solving a problem in our community with our school, where we shared many ideas and problems we were motivated to solve.

A big thank you to all the guests, staff, and students that helped organize the morning tea, lunch, gift bags, photos, and activities for us. It made for a very fun and enlightening day that created a positive atmosphere for us to learn in.

We would also like to thank Ms. Massarotto and Mr. Williams for organizing this incredible opportunity and encouraging us to join in the collaborative experience, it has made us all better leaders.
