Fern House

Welcome back to 2026, Fern students and families!

This year we have returned to studies very quickly thanks to the Smart-Start program from the end of 2025. This meant all students from Years 7-11 last year got a start on their 2026 timetables with their new teachers.  I am pleased to say that our Fern students didn’t miss a beat this year and have hit the ground running – Well done!

I will also take the opportunity to welcome our new Year 7s into Fern. They did not have the advantage of a Smart-Start program from last year, but have instead started the year with an alternative Welcome Week program.  This has enabled Year 7 students to settle into their new surroundings and develop a connection to both our House and the school.  The feedback from their teachers has been excellent, and I congratulate them on their smooth transition into our community. Fern Year 12 students participated in a fantastic excursion to the cable park, which enabled them to spend some time together with all Year 12s and set the scene for a cohesive and focused start to what will no doubt be a challenging final year of their studies.

A reminder please to all Fern students regarding some key areas of focus for the start of the year around entry and exit routines to classes, maintaining respectful relationships, and aiming to achieve the best in your learning each day. Teachers are always looking for opportunities to recognise our students that are regularly demonstrating positive behaviours.  A reminder also about uniform requirements and the importance of meeting these expectations every day.  What better way to show pride in self and our school?

Such a smooth start to the year would not be possible without the efforts of all our wonderful staff that have contributed to the organisation and running of the learning program, so thanks to you all.  We welcome all our new staff to Fern this year, particularly our new Student Engagement Coordinator, Mr. Kafrouni.  As we continue through the term, our Fern team of staff look forward to celebrating achievements, fostering growth, and making this year a memorable one for all. Thank you for your ongoing support and we’re excited for all that’s to come!
