Darwinia House

What a whirlwind start to 2026 we’ve had in Darwinia House!
After what was hopefully a wonderful holiday season, the year kicked off for our Seniors and new Year 7 students last Wednesday. Our Senior Students have “hit the ground running” following an extensive Smart Start program at the end of last year, with many moving into their first assessments for the year already.
Our Year 7s have started their transition from Primary to High School, participating in a two week orientation program. This included getting to know you games, school tours, introductions to all of the important people at the school, starting their classes, and will culminate next week with an excursion to Lysterfield Lake. The feedback from our teachers so far is that the group is very friendly, curious about learning and fun to teach. We look forward to seeing them learning and growing as Darwinians over the next six years.
The rest of our students from Year 8, 9 and 10 started last Thursday and it was a very smooth start. Students seemed relaxed and refreshed from their holidays and everyone has started well.
We will be selecting our SRC representatives next week, so anyone that is interested in joining what is already a very strong leadership group in Darwinia is encouraged to submit their nominations to Mr Greaves early next week. Once they are selected, our student leaders already have big plans for all things Darwinia, looking to improve upon our results last year, most importantly, ensuring everyone “has a go” and does their best at school events and in classes.
I look forward to seeing everyone improving in their studies this year. Good luck in particular to our Year 12s as they embark on their last year of high school. Do your best, get involved and enjoy your time at school.
Go Darwinia!
