Callistemon House

Welcome back to all members of our Callistemon community!
It has been a pleasure being back in Callistemon! I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students, staff and families for welcoming the 2026 Callistemon House Leadership Team. It is my privilege to be in the role of House Leader for the first half of this year. I am very excited about the opportunity to build on the connections and work of Term 3 of last year. Ms Cameron is also returning as the Assistant House Leader and we have Mr Moslih moving across from Grevillea as the Student Engagement Coordinator. Ms Gupta is continuing in the role of House Administration Officer. We are also welcoming some other staff to Callistemon; Ms Corera, Ms Senevirathne and Ms Travaglini. We are all very keen to get to know all the learners and families in our House and we encourage you all to reach out to us to let us know how we can support you in your learning and connection to school.
I would like to congratulate Ruby and Ishita for being appointed as the House Captains for this year. We are looking forward to hearing your ideas and seeing how you put these into action around the House. The new SRC will also be elected soon. I encourage all students, whether they hold a title of responsibility or not, to support the captains and SRC in their actions. A key opportunity all students will have to do their bit for the House is the House Swimming Carnival that will take place later this term. Callistemon House are the defending champions from 2024 and 2025 and we would love to see everyone participate so we can hold onto our title!
Our Year 7s have had a positive start to the year, they have been engaged in a range of welcome activities to help them get to know each other, the school and the expectations that will allow them to learn at their best. Each time I have been with the Year 7s I have been impressed by the respect, engagement & helpfulness of the group. Our Year 10 Peer Leaders and House Captain Ruby ran a session with the 7s. It was wonderful to watch the Year 10s supporting our Year 7s and to see them step up in their leadership.
Our other year levels have had a strong start to the year building on the foundations set during SmartStart in 2025. We look forward to seeing student responsibility and engagement grow through the year, as well as connection and belonging to the House and school.
One of my goals for my time in Callistemon is to support all members of our community to have growth in their learning and experience success. Please reach out to any member of the HLT to let us know how we can help you to be your best this year!
