Welcome to 'The Hub'!

We are thrilled to have officially opened 'The Hub' to students, and it has already become a much-loved space within our school community. The Hub has been buzzing with activity, particularly during recess and lunchtime, as students embrace the opportunity to relax, connect with friends and enjoy the space.

Alongside providing a welcoming environment for students to spend time together, The Hub features four new counselling spaces to support students with their individual wellbeing needs, as well as a dedicated group workshop room where our Wellbeing Team can facilitate workshops and activities to support student learning, personal development and mental health.

It has been wonderful to hear so many positive comments from students, who have been incredibly complimentary about the space and have expressed how lucky they feel to have it. Seeing students embrace The Hub and make it their own has been fantastic, and we look forward to seeing it continue to thrive as a place of connection, support and belonging for all!

What is The Hub?

More than just a physical space, The Hub is a place to connect, recharge, seek support and feel a sense of belonging. It provides students with access to wellbeing support along with opportunities to build positive relationships in a safe and welcoming environment.

We look forward to seeing The Hub become a valued part of our school, supporting students to flourish both personally and academically.

The Hub: Do's and Don’ts

To ensure The Hub remains a safe, welcoming and respectful space for everyone, we ask all students to familiarise themselves with the following guidelines.

The Do's – What students are welcome to do

  • Report to Reception: All students must report to Reception upon arrival at The Hub.
  • Access counselling support: Attend scheduled counselling appointments and seek support from your counsellor when needed.
  • Join Breakfast Club: Make the most of the opportunity to connect with others and enjoy breakfast in a welcoming environment.
  • Access food at recess and lunchtime: Students are welcome to access available food during designated recess and lunchtime periods.
  • Enjoy the space: Students are welcome to make full use of the remainder of The Hub, enjoying the facilities and spaces provided in a respectful and responsible manner.
  • Respect others: Help us maintain a calm, inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels safe and welcome.

The Don’ts – Areas that are out of bounds

For safety, privacy and operational reasons, the following areas are strictly for staff use only:

  • No student access to the kitchen.
  • No student access to the staff toilet.
  • No student access to the staff workroom.
  • No unsupervised access to counselling spaces: Counselling rooms and designated counselling spaces may only be accessed by students under the supervision of their counsellor.

Students are welcome to enjoy the remainder of The Hub, provided they follow these guidelines and respect the purpose of the space.

A place to connect, belong and thrive

The Hub is an exciting addition to our school, and we encourage all students to embrace the opportunities it offers. By working together and respecting the space, we can ensure that The Hub becomes a positive and supportive environment for our entire school community.

Thank you once again to our Principal and School Council for making this vision a reality, and to our students, parents and staff for helping us create a culture of respect within our community where everyone truly matters.

Welcome to The Hub – your space to connect, feel supported and thrive.

Wellbeing Report

It has been an action-packed start to Term 4 for wellbeing at our school! From the opening of The Hub and a fantastic Year 10 Wellbeing Day to the exciting activities planned for our upcoming Wellbeing Week, there has been plenty happening to support student connection, belonging and positive mental health.

Year 10 Wellbeing Day

Our Year 10 students enjoyed a fantastic Wellbeing Day filled with engaging presentations, fun activities and valuable learning experiences.

Students loved hearing from Michael Raydan, whose presentation was a highlight of the day. They also had a great time participating in Zumba with Pierre, with many students already keen to get involved again when Pierre returns for Wellbeing Week!

Another highlight was learning about Generative AI, exploring how it works, how it can be used positively, and how it can also be manipulated or misused. Students had the opportunity to think critically about the benefits and risks of this emerging technology and how they can use it responsibly in their everyday lives.

The day was a wonderful opportunity for students to focus on their wellbeing, build connections and develop skills and knowledge that will support them both at school and beyond.

Get Ready for Wellbeing Week!

Wellbeing Week is finally here and there has been plenty of activities designed to encourage students to get active, connect with others and enjoy some fun along the way.

Highlights for students include:

  • Metafit with Jane, our Youth Worker – an energetic workout to get students moving and boost their energy.
  • Zumba with Pierre – back by popular demand after the success of our Year 10 Wellbeing Day.
  • Free hot jam donuts – a sweet treat for students to enjoy.
  • Fundraising sausage sizzle and $5 meal deal – students can enjoy a sausage in bread, a can of drink and a bag of popcorn for just $5! Proceeds from our fundraising efforts will go to the Les Twentyman Foundation, supporting its important work with young people and the community.

Please note: Payment for the $5 meal deal and sausage sizzle will be by cash or card only. Phone payments will not be available, so students should plan accordingly.

Wellbeing Week is a great opportunity for students to take a break from their usual routines, try something new, spend time with friends and celebrate the importance of looking after themselves and one another.

We look forward to concluding this fantastic week full of connection, participation and positive wellbeing across our school community!
