Victorian State Schools Spectacular 2026 ⭐ 

Over the weekend, our incredibly talented student performers took to the stage at (the sold out!) John Cain Arena for the annual Victorian State Schools Spectacular. This year’s production, This Is Me, was a magnificent celebration of individuality, creativity, self-belief and belonging.

Across two spectacular performances, our students helped bring to life an extraordinary arena production alongside more than 2,500 students from government schools across Victoria. The result was an unforgettable celebration filled with music, dance, colour and energy.

The final performances were the culmination of months of dedication and preparation. Our Mass Dance students worked tirelessly to master complex choreography, while our Mass Choir students learnt an extensive and diverse musical repertoire. Akshara, our principal vocalist, Theo our Victorian State Schools Choir member and Aadyah, the band (drums/percussions) performers also committed many hours to rehearsing and refining their performances. 

While the performances themselves were incredible, the true value of this experience extended well beyond the stage. Preparing for a production of this scale takes courage, commitment and perseverance. Our students learnt to manage their nerves, persist when something was challenging, recover from mistakes and continue striving for their best. They also learnt to rely on one another, contribute to a team and recognise the important part that every individual plays in creating a successful performance.

These experiences matter. Research highlights that participation in structured performing arts activities can strengthen students’ self-confidence, self-esteem, resilience, relationships and sense of belonging. Group music-making has also been shown to support cooperation, communication, teamwork and social connection. The Spectacular provided our students with a powerful opportunity to experience these benefits firsthand - to step outside their comfort zones, discover what they are capable of and feel the immense pride that comes from achieving something through sustained effort.

Most importantly, our students represented our school with pride, enthusiasm and exemplary behaviour throughout the entire experience. We could not be prouder of the way they supported one another, embraced every opportunity and brought such wonderful energy to the stage.

A massive thank you to the Ms Cecconello and Sabrina Aung who generously gave their time to coordinate rehearsals and logistics, support students throughout production week, support the weekend performances and care for our students backstage. Experiences such as this simply would not be possible without their commitment, organisation and encouragement.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to the parents and families who supported this journey from the very first rehearsal. Thank you for helping students practise, managing additional commitments and transport, and encouraging them every step of the way. This was a truly memorable experience for our students, and one we know they will carry with them for many years to come.

Auditions for next year’s Mass Dance and Mass Choir ensembles will be held next term. We encourage any interested students to keep an eye out for further information and consider taking up this wonderful opportunity.
