School Captain Term 2 Reflection

Looking back at a busy Term 2, so much has happened. Ms T and the I Sea I Care Ambassadors organised an extraordinary World Ocean Day, Signora Pansino put together yet another sensational Italian Day, the Year 4’s have embarked on their first ever school camp, we’ve started raising food and household essentials for Winter Appeal and had the exhilaration of the school disco. Here’s a quick recap of what’s been happening.

World Ocean Day was spectacular! We began the day by showing off our costumes; there were fabulous fish, scary sharks and colourful coral. The day consisted of team building activities and amusing games. Ms T and the I Sea I Care Ambassadors had organised so many informative but enjoyable events, different for every single class in the school, there was chalky art, baffling origami and mesmerising facts about the midnight zone, twilight zone and the Abyss. As well as having so much fun and learning so much, we also raised awareness in our school, home and communities about how much pollution is toxicating our oceans. It was a fantastic day to remember and we hope there are many more World Ocean Days to come.

We’re so lucky to have enough food and warmth in our houses to withstand these bitter winters. But imagine if we didn’t. There are so many people out there that don’t have food, or warmth or household essentials, and we can help them. The Mini Vinnies have launched the 2026 Winter Appeal, each class has a tub in their room labeled ‘Winter Appeal’ and we urge you to bring in non-perishable foods and household essentials - like toilet paper - so we can donate these items to people who need them. We have a goal to reach 350 items as a school by the end of Term 2 and to reach that goal we need a lot more support from the community. To celebrate this goal we will have a Winter Woolies Day tomorrow and you can wear all your oodies, pyjamas and ugg boots to school!

The preps have experienced their first school disco and the Year 6’s have had their last. It was one to remember. Lights were flashing and music boomed in the hall, our DJ was a former student; DJ Will,  and everyone was dancing and cheering for hours! We enjoyed our favourite songs and waved around all our glow sticks and other light-up wands aimlessly. We will remember that extraordinary disco for years to come.

It’s been a superb term, we’ve achieved so much and there've been so many memorable events. We can’t wait to see what surprises and challenges are yet to come in Term 3.

Your School Captains, Ollie and Abby
