Every Journey Begins Somewhere
On Saturday, we welcomed our incoming Year 5 students to St Patrick’s College for their Preparation Day. Amid a busy day of sport across the College, it was wonderful to see the excitement and curiosity of our newest students as they began to experience life at St Patrick’s. It was equally lovely to connect with parents and carers, welcoming both familiar faces with older sons at the College and families joining our community for the first time.
A particular highlight for me was seeing our Year 12 students and College leaders helping welcome the incoming students. Their confidence, maturity and willingness to support our youngest members offered a glimpse of the young men we want our incoming Year 5 students to become.
This moment took on even greater significance last Wednesday evening, when we welcomed our Year 12 parents and carers for the HSC Information Evening. On Saturday, our Year 12 students were helping our newest students take their first steps at the College. On Wednesday, we were reminded that those same steps eventually lead to the final chapter of a young man’s school journey.
The journey from Year 5 to Year 12 is more than only academic achievement. It factors in building confidence, developing resilience, forming lasting friendships and embracing opportunities to grow. Along the way, it is the relationships, the challenges they overcome and the everyday interactions that help shape the SPC Ideal Graduate.
We look forward to welcoming the Class of 2027 and walking alongside them and their families as their journey begins. Eight years here at the College may pass quickly, but the lessons learned, friendships formed and memories created can last a lifetime.
