Wellbeing - Middle School

Preparation is Key
Last Saturday, we were delighted to welcome our incoming Year 5 students for their Preparation Day. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and excitement of our newest cohort as they began taking their first steps towards joining our Middle School community. The cohort were greeted by the friendly faces of their Year 12 leaders which immediately set a tone of support, mateship and camaraderie. Special thanks to Year 5 Prefect, Marcello R, who addressed the students and assured them of his support.
Our current Year 5 students are also approaching an exciting milestone. As they near the completion of their first year at the College, they will soon begin considering leadership opportunities for 2027. We encourage all students to reflect on how they can contribute positively to our community and lead through service, integrity, and example.
As we begin preparations to welcome our newest students, I also took the opportunity to speak with our Year 8 students last week about making their final weeks as Middle School students truly count. With only a short time remaining before they move into Senior School, I encouraged them to embrace every opportunity available to them and to ensure their actions reflect the values of our Ideal Graduate and the College Touchstones.
Year 8 has a particularly busy term ahead, with both the Justice Partnership Day and the Year 8 Dance on the horizon. These important events provide meaningful opportunities for students to demonstrate service, compassion, respect and community spirit. Tickets for the Year 8 Dance are now available, and we thank families for their ongoing support of this important fundraising initiative.
We wish our Year 6 students well as they participate in their Reflection Day at Field of Mars tomorrow. This special experience will allow students to deepen their understanding of the College's Catholic identity and traditions while providing an opportunity for reflection, faith formation and personal growth.
Looking ahead to Week 3, we wish our Year 7 cohort all the very best as they attend camp at Camp Somerset. Previous cohorts regularly speak of strengthened friendships, the challenges overcome, and the memories created during their time away. We are confident this experience will provide valuable opportunities for personal growth and connection.
