Senior School update

2025

As the year comes to a close, the senior school team would like to congratulate the graduating class of 2025 and Year 11 students who completed a Unit 3/4 subject on their outstanding results. Koonung achieved an amazing VCE median study score of 32 which is due to the hard work and commitment of our students and staff. A great result that places our school within the highest achieving government schools in the state.

To all of our graduating students, you should be very proud of getting through the year and obtaining your VCE. We wish you the very best for next year and beyond!

The Senior Sub-school has had the task over seven weeks of this term to facilitate a busy exam period for students in Years 9-12. All staff have been super impressed with the conduct, attentiveness and dedication of our students to this process. As well as our Year 12s, our Year 11s, 10s and 9s were prepared and well behaved in the exams which bodes well for the coming years.

Preparations for 2026 are already underway. Diligent course counselling has occurred, lockers have been cleaned, the Edge program has been delivered, reports have been released, and special provisions are being put into place for next year’s exams.

2026 Year 12 Launch

The Senior School Team is excited to announce that the 2026 Year 12 students will be starting the year with an offsite program on Wednesday 28 January.

Location: The Round (379-399 Whitehorse Rd, Nunawading VIC 3131)

Time: 8:40am - 3:15pm

This is a compulsory event for all Year 12 students and aims to enhance engagement with studies and foster connection amongst the year level. It will include a catered lunch, a guest speaker, an English workshop, study and wellbeing tools, and challenge activities.

We encourage all our Year 12 students to take some time to rest over the summer break but also be conscientious in completing all the required holiday homework outlined on their class Teams page.

2026 Year 10 and 11 students

Firstly, it has been exciting to meet the incoming Year 10 students as they finalised their Year 9 program and were introduced to the processes and expectations of Senior School.

Additionally, communications have been sent out to all Unit 1&2 students in 2026 about accessing the required holiday homework. This can be accessed via the 2026 Year 11 cohort page on Teams; 2026 Year 10 students have been temporarily added to this page.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of our parents and families to thank the hard work put in this year by our dedicated group of coordinators: Glenda Hanslow, Nikita Natsis, Alistair Tuffnell, Mia Poulton, Peter Scott and our Senior School Administrator Allana Edgell. This group of dedicated staff put in an immense amount of work to support our senior students and thoroughly deserve an enjoyable break!

To conclude, the staff of the Senior Sub-School wish all of our families a safe and restful summer break and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2026.
