From the Principal

Angela Romano - Principal

The election of Pope Leo XIV marks an important new chapter for the Catholic Church and invites our community—especially our young people—to reflect on what it means to live a life of faith, service, and hope in today’s world. His leadership begins with a powerful message: that we are called to be bridge-builders, people who listen, reach out, and walk alongside others with compassion, especially those who are suffering or in need.

In his first address, Pope Leo XIV spoke of a Church that seeks peace, unity, and closeness—a synodal Church that moves together with purpose. For our students, this is a timely and inspiring call to action. Whether in the classroom, the playground, or beyond the College gates, the Pope’s message encourages young people to lead with kindness, to value dialogue over division, and to be a source of light in their communities. His words challenge all of us to consider how we can contribute to a more peaceful and connected world, grounded in the Gospel values we hold dear.

At Marian College, the month of May holds deep significance as we honour Mary, the mother of Jesus and the namesake of our College. In Catholic tradition, May is a time of reflection, prayer, and devotion, where we are invited to look to Mary as a guiding example. She embodies strength and kindness—our motto -—as well as grace, compassion, and faith. Mary inspires us to live our faith with love, integrity, and a commitment to others. Throughout this month, we are reminded to follow her example in our words, actions, and relationships, both within our community and beyond.

Community Events

Mothers Day

Our recent Mother’s Day Breakfast at Marian College was a beautiful celebration of the important women in our students’ lives. It was heartwarming to see so many mothers, grandmothers, and carers join us in community, sharing food, conversation, and laughter. The event reflected the spirit of Marian—welcoming, grateful, and grounded in love. We thank everyone who attended and helped make the morning so special.

Athletics Carnival

Our recent Athletics Day was a vibrant celebration of House spirit, energy, and community. It was wonderful to see students enthusiastically participating, cheering each other on, and embracing the friendly competition with pride and unity. The colourful displays, creative costumes, and strong team support reflected the heart of Marian’s House culture—one of belonging, encouragement, and joy.

Trustees of Kildare Ministries Visit

We were honoured to welcome the Trustees of Kildare Ministries to Marian College for a recent visit that was both affirming and inspiring. Their presence provided a valuable opportunity to share how our community continues to live out the Kildare Ministries values of Compassion, Courage, Hope, Hospitality, Justice, and Wonder in our daily work and relationships. The Trustees engaged with students, staff, and leaders, witnessing firsthand the vibrant faith life, commitment to social justice, and dedication to learning that characterise our College. Their visit not only celebrated our shared mission but also encouraged us to continue striving for excellence as a Catholic school in the Brigidine tradition. We are deeply grateful for their support and leadership.

Child Safeguarding

At Marian College, the safety and wellbeing of all students is our highest priority. As part of our commitment to Child Safe Standards, we want to share with families some of the core principles that guide how we create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all students.

These include maintaining appropriate boundaries, ensuring inclusive and culturally safe practices, and promoting student voice and empowerment. It is also important that communication with students remains appropriate and occurs within school-approved platforms and settings.

We thank our parent community for partnering with us in upholding these values and helping ensure that Marian College remains a safe place for every young person to learn, grow, and thrive.

Twilight Open Evening

We are excited to host an upcoming event designed for prospective families considering Marian College for their daughter's secondary education. This event will provide valuable insights into the life of our school, showcasing our academic programs, student leadership opportunities, wellbeing initiatives, and the values that guide our community. Families will have the opportunity to tour our facilities, meet staff and students, and learn more about the enrolment process. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience the spirit of Marian and discover how we nurture young women to grow in strength, kindness, and confidence.
