We began the term with two incredible days of professional learning that inspired, challenged, and uplifted us all. With a focus on staff wellbeing and professional boundaries in schools, our sessions with Amy Green and Ben Tallboys offered timely insights and practical tools to help us support not only our students, but also each other as educators and professionals.
Amy Green led us through powerful conversations around staff wellbeing, encouraging us to reflect on how we show up, how we care, and how we sustain our passion for teaching. Ben Tallboys took us deeper into the importance of professional boundaries, helping us explore how clear, respectful boundaries create stronger, healthier relationships within our school community.
Throughout the two days, our learning journey was captured in real-time by a cartoonist Alice Edy, creating a visual story of our shared experiences, one that now lives on as a colourful, meaningful reminder in our College. The cartoon panel hangs near our staff lounge, not just as artwork but as a daily nudge toward how we can do, be, and feel better in our roles.
We had the opportunity to select from a range of engaging and informative workshops, each filled with energy and practical insights. Sessions focused on sleep hygiene, neurodiversity, different types of meditation, and the neuroscience behind a growth mindset. Each topic offered valuable strategies to support both staff and student wellbeing. The learning from these sessions will undoubtedly influence how we teach, how we lead, and how we connect with each other and with our students. These ideas will echo in our classrooms, conversations, and teams as we continue to grow together.
To close out our time together, we shared a truly joyful experience with African drumming. The rhythm, laughter, and movement brought us together in celebration, releasing stress, reconnecting as colleagues, and beginning the term on a high note.
This was more than just professional development, it was a shared experience of learning, connection, and collective renewal. A heartfelt thank you to our principal Angela Romano for initiating and supporting such a creative and meaningful approach to professional learning. A big thankyou to all our staff for bringing your open minds and full hearts to each session.
Here’s to carrying this energy forward through feeling better, doing better and being better every day!
