Year 8 Real World

An exciting visit to The District in the Docklands!

Earlier this week  the Year 8 Real World students embarked on an exciting excursion to The District Docklands. The journey began with a V-Line train from Ardeer, an exciting first-time experience for some students. Despite a cancelled train, students demonstrated great adaptability by navigating changes and arriving at the Docklands on time.

The first stop was ArtVo, an immersive and interactive 3D art gallery. Here, students explored the concepts of perspective, depth, and illusion in both 2D and 3D spaces. They practiced observing fine details, interpreting visual cues, and discovering how perception can be creatively manipulated. Of course, they also filled their photo galleries with some impressive and entertaining snapshots.

Next, students headed to Dreamscape, an engaging experience that combines technology, creativity, and sensory interaction. The session began in Dream Verse, a room equipped with floor-to-ceiling ultra-high-resolution visuals that created a stunning naked-eye 3D effect. Whether flying through space, diving into the ocean, or racing dinosaurs, students were fully immersed in breathtaking motion environments, just watch out for the cliff!

Following this, students rotated through six immersive, arcade-style game rooms. These glowing spaces challenged their physical and mental skills through activities that involved running, jumping, climbing, and problem-solving. Working in teams of five, students collaborated to tackle each challenge, using strategy and teamwork to reach their goals.

Overall, the day was an enriching and unforgettable experience, allowing students to learn in new environments, strengthen their peer connections, and explore creativity, movement, and collaboration outside the classroom.
