Mini Vinnies

Winter Appeal

“For it is in giving that we receive.”

St. Francis of Assisi

Thank you so much to those who have donated already to our Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal. We have be able to send off one car load already to St Vincent de Paul and we are awaiting them making a second collection, as COHR has been so generous.

Please continue to bring in non-perishable items and donations. Next week on Friday it will be our Mini Vinnies Donate a Dollar Day. Students can wear casual clothes for the cost of gold coin donation, or the donation of food items. Please don't leave items in the foyer, have your child take them to the classrooms, so they can be added to the class tally. The class with the most donations will win a casual clothes day.

There are many individuals and families struggling at this time and our small gesture can make a big difference in their lives. By showing true compassion we are instilling in our children the need to look after each other and they can experience a giving mindset as they grow up. Being generous with what we have is a blessing and a privilege. Sharing with those less fortunate than ourselves or those who are vulnerable at this time enriches our own personal lives and what we value.

The Peace Prayer of Saint Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

Where there is error, truth;

Where there is injury, pardon;

Where there is doubt, faith;

Where there is despair, hope;

Where there is darkness, light;

And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled as to console;

To be understood as to understand;

To be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;

It is in self-forgetting that we find;

And it is in dying to ourselves that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

-Saint Francis of Assisi (1182–1226)
