St Joseph's Primary School
On Wednesday 25 March, THS hosted Stage 3 from St Joseph's Primary School, Tenterfield who were undertaking their Science Assessment in a real Science Laboratory.
Students were guided through an induction to the laboratory environment by Ms Parker, after which they conducted their investigation on the viscosity of fluids under the supervision of Mr Hancock and Mrs Macansh.
Weekend Sunrise
Congratulations to our Year 12 students, Mr Caisley, Ms Phillips, and Mrs Cooper, for their outstanding representation of THS at the Weekend Sunrise event on Sunday 22 March. THS provided a barbecue, with funds raised contributing to their Year 12 formal.
Wellbeing
Congratulations to our Year 7 and Year 9 students who have achieved Bronze level in our positive merit scheme. A Bronze certificate is awarded to students upon receiving 25 positive awards.
Mitch Tambo
Mitch Tambo made a return to THS on March 13 for a day packed with enriching cultural experiences, which included:
- Yarning Circle: A guided session that fosters reflection and facilitates meaningful conversations.
- ‘5 Safe People’ Network: An initiative aimed at helping children establish trusted relationships to enhance their safety and well-being.
Voice of Lele: A session that sheds light on the experiences of West Papuan refugees, celebrating diversity and inclusion.
Additionally, our staff were invited to participate in a professional development workshop tailored for educators and administrators, focusing on their personal growth. The day wrapped up with an energetic one-hour performance that seamlessly blended music, storytelling, and cultural identity.
Science & Engineering Challenge
Tenterfield High School students demonstrated their skills and teamwork at the Science & Engineering Challenge held on 6 March in Inverell. We take great pride in witnessing our future innovators engage in practical problem-solving while enjoying the realms of science and engineering. Thank you to Mr Clay and Mr Douglas for accompanying the students.
Welcome BBQ
On Tuesday 10 February we held our annual welcome BBQ. It was wonderful to meet the families who attended. A special thank you to our senior volunteers for their fantastic cooking on the BBQ, and to everyone who participated.
University Showcase
Students in Years 11 and 12 participated in a University Showcase on 16 February featuring representatives from the University of New England, University of Newcastle, Charles Sturt University, and the University of Southern Queensland and UAC. This event offered valuable insights into various aspects of university life, including courses, application processes, accommodation, early entry schemes, scholarships, and pathway options.
SBAT
Congratulations to Reagan and Hollie, who were officially signed on yesterday as our newest school-based trainees with Hunter New England Health. Over the next two years, they will be pursuing a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance.
Congratulations to Will Brown who will completed a SBAT with DTB Fabrication and Kody Halliday with Kent Engineering and Mechanical in Glen Innes. They will both complete a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade.
