Cross Country 

The 2026 Cross Country Carnival was held on Wednesday 25th March during the school sport session, with students taking on a challenging and scenic course. Runners began at the old hockey fields before making their way through the streets of Tenterfield, finishing strongly back at Petherick Oval. Despite the warm afternoon conditions, students showed outstanding determination and resilience, with effort levels across all age groups proving impressive. Behaviour throughout the event was excellent, reflecting great sportsmanship and school pride. A well-deserved ice block at the finish line was enjoyed by all participants, providing a refreshing reward after a fantastic afternoon of competition. 

In the overall results, Finlay Paynter claimed first place in the boys event with an impressive time of 11:23, followed by Jack Chapman in second and Alexander Edmonds in third. In the girls event, Amber Thomas took out first place with a time of 13:04, with Chelsea Thomas finishing second and Georgiana Risson in third. 

Age Champions were awarded across all divisions, recognising outstanding individual performances. Hope Collis and William Stenzel were named 12/13 champions, while Chelsea Thomas and Noah Wells took out the 14-year age group. In the 15-year division, Elly Butler and Alexander Edmonds were crowned champions. The 16-year champions were Laura Aquilini and Finlay Paynter, and in the 17+ division, Amber Thomas and Saxon Radoll were awarded top honours. 

Congratulations also go to Stewart House, who were crowned overall champions with 380 points. Cunningham House finished in second place with 343 points, followed by Parkes on 287 and Oxley on 228. 

Overall, the carnival was a huge success, showcasing the positive spirit, effort and participation of Tenterfield High School students.
