Sports Report

North East Zone Clay Target Championships

Well done to Aiden Calleja, and Marcus and Izabelle Keirl on their recent participation in the North East Zone Clay Target Championships in Echuca.

Aiden shot an amazing 10 out of 10 in the first round, then 6 in the second round to be equal second. After a shoot off with three other boys, who were all tied on 16/20, he finished with a 3rd in the Junior Boys category!

Marcus had a good first round, placing about halfway in the Junior Boys while Izzy had a great second round and also ended up in a 3-way tie before finishing 3rd in Senior Girls!

Both Izzy and Aiden will now progress to the States on September 4! Congratulations to both of you and we wish you the very best of luck!

Team Vic Teams - AFL

Well done to one of our Year 7 students, Marlon Micalizzi who represented Team Vic at the School Sport Australia Football Championship which last week claimed the nation’s U12s title!

Marlon had an amazing carnival and was also awarded the 'Bravery' award during their game against South Australia.

Congratulations Marlon on this wonderful achievement! We hope you enjoyed the experience!

Team Vic Teams - Swimming

We would like to wish Year 7 student Ayla McAsey, the very best of luck at the National Swimming Championships in Sydney from next Monday 21 August - Tuesday 29 August.

Ayla has been clocking up the kms at Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre over the past couple of months. We are beyond proud of you Ayla and know that your determination and courageous attitude will help create a lasting experience for you at this level of competition.

State AFL Quarter & Semi Finals

Our Year 7 boys and Senior (Year 11/12) boys AFL teams both had the opportunity to play in Ballarat at the State quarter and semi finals over the past two weeks.

The Year 7 boys got the quarter final win against Western Heights in the first game. Progressing to the semi final, they came up against Diamond Valley College and had another convincing win, securing a spot in the State final.

The senior boys narrowly defeated Western Heights College by 11 points in the quarter final. They then went on to play Montmorency Secondary College in the semi final and finished with a convincing win 86-24!

So now we have not one, but two teams heading off to Latrobe University Sports Park, Bundoora on Tuesday 22 August to play in the State finals!

The bookends of our school playing off for the State title on the very same day! What a special achievement!

We wish our players and coaches the very best of luck.

Go St Joes!!
