Acting
Last August Lucas W (Level 3) filmed a short film titled "Every Child, Every Conflict' which has recently been released for Save the Children https://www.savethechildren.org.au/every-child-every-conflict-b#video.
For the film Lucas learnt a fictional language, delivered the lines with emotion and acted in conditions that were very uncomfortable.
Congratulations Lucas for a wonderful and moving performance!
Indoor Rocking Climbing
Victorian Indoor Rock Climbing Competition
A couple of weeks ago I competed in the Victorian Indoor Rock climbing competition.
I am very excited, also this is the first time I have competed in Australia.
I woke up at 7am and double checked my bag to make sure I had all of my rock climbing gear. I was scared but excited at the same time. I met my coach at the start of the event. He tells me to be flexible just like when you climb in the gym at training. I CAN DO THIS! I say to myself.
I begin climbing in my first competition. I had a section of rock holds 3-4 meters off the ground which I had to move across the wall. These started easy and became harder the further I went along. There were different sized holes and grips points which made it challenging. Suddenly, I lost my grip and swung back and forth, holding on by one hand. Finally at the last minute I found a position to stabilise myself in the holds. I did it and eventually made it across the wall.
I waited for the other competitors to complete their attempts. Finally the competition finished. I was very scared to look at my score. “Ok open your eyes.”mum said.“Oh my gosh! I came sixth!” I couldn't believe it, because the top six get invited into the Victorian rock climbing team!!!!!
I was so proud of myself. I had blisters on my hands and fingertips, and a cut on my leg, but it was all worth it. Rock climbing is a hobby that I'm never going to give up.
