Term 4 – Here We Come!
As we begin Term 4 and reflect on what has been achieved thus far for our students, we take much pride in seeing how much our students have grown and developed in their learning. In Term 4 we begin to prepare our students for the following year, but equally as important is celebrating the successes of our students from throughout the year. To finish off the year we have many school and year level events planned, including our primary swimming program, Year 6 and Year 9 Graduations and whole year level end of year celebrations.
Year 6 Camp
Our Year 6 students participated in a camp in Canberra from Tuesday 15th October- Friday 18th October. Students and staff had a tremendous time engaging in the many activities linked to their current unit of work on Parliament. Thank you to Ms Annison and Ms Kelly for organising the camp. An extended thank you to the staff members who also attended the camp.
Morrisby Interviews
This past week at the College our Year 9 students have participated in the Morrisby Career Consultations. The Department of Education gives every Victorian Government school student free access to the world-leading Morrisby online career education tool. This process helps students make informed choices for senior secondary school and beyond by exploring their strengths, interests and career opportunities. The ‘My Career Insights’ program pairs student’s Morrisby profile with a free expert career consultant. Our Year 9’s have had a great week exploring their future pathways. A big thank you to Ms Pretty for organising all of the consultations.
Year 7 Information evening and Orientation
On Tuesday 8th October we held an information evening for all new and existing families who have a child beginning in Year 7 at Brookside College in 2025. The information evening was held online via Webex and provided our Year 6 students with important information ready for next year. Following on from this meeting, Mr Thompson, Ms Gillis and Mrs Newitt have conducted transition meetings with our new students joining us in 2025. We are very excited to welcome them to Brookside, beginning with our Orientation Day happening on Tuesday 10th December.
Prep Information Evening
On Wednesday 9th October we held our Prep information evening. It was amazing to see our future Prep students and their smiling faces ready to join us in 2025. Thank you to Mrs Jackson, Mr Golz and Mrs Obremski who led the presentation for our families.
We will be conducting the first of our three transition mornings for upcoming Prep students on Friday 1st November. The morning will provide an opportunity for our Kinder children to experience what is it like to be in a Prep classroom and engage in various Literacy/Numeracy activities.
Parent Teacher Student Conferences
On Thursday 10th October Brookside held our PTSC Conferences. It was a great opportunity for families to come and meet with their child’s teacher to discuss the amazing successes and progress they have made over the past year. It was great to see and hear so many positive conversations happening. We thank all the staff, students and guardians for your participation.

On Thursday 24th October we hosted the Brookside Specialist Expo Community Festival, showcasing the amazing work from our students in this learning area. It was a fantastic afternoon celebrating with our community.
