3-4 S.A.K.G

with Mylinh Crossman

Towards the end of Term 3, Casey from Bunnings facilitated a Planting Workshop with all Year 3 students in their garden sessions. Students learnt about what plants need to grow well and how to plant a flower seedling into a pot. After the workshop, students took their potted flower home to nurture. Brookside College is very appreciative of Bunnings massive contribution to our program.

At the beginning of Term 4 in the kitchen and garden, students harvested and cooked with seasonal produce including potato, cauliflower, broccoli, spring onion, lettuce, garlic and lots of silverbeet. We explored different pasta shapes then made potato gnocci and silverbeet hand rolled pasta. We will continue to explore different dishes that makes up Italian Cuisine. So delicious.

We are also beginning to get more volunteers in the kitchen. A massive shout out to several parents in 3A for consistently assisting in our wonderful program, we need and appreciate you! As an added bonus, volunteers also learn new recipes and enjoys sharing food at the end of the cooking session. If parents/guardians are keen to participate, please contact home group teachers or Ms. Crossman.
