School Council News

On Tuesday night we had our first School Council meeting of 2026. It was great to welcome David Oakman, Vicki Booth, Ash Rogers, Tatjana Ercegovic and Tori Chan to the team. We spent the first part of the meeting getting to know each other, it is exciting to have such as mix of talents and backgrounds amongst us.

Nita Rege was selected the School Council President, who immediately took the reins. Hayden Djakic will be the Vice President, and David Oakman the Treasurer.

Council members were appointed into one of the three sub-committees of Finance, Education Policy and Buildings & Grounds. This allows members in depth focus into these areas, with each group reporting back to the full council.

Much of the meeting was spent with Mat sharing the Annual Implementation Plan and the Annual Report. These covered a review of 2025 and looking forward to 2026. As most would have seen, our results are on a nice trajectory, and we are very keen to keep that going. This has meant some restructuring of leadership responsibilities to drive onwards our key growth areas. We also spent time going through the Child Safe Standards. Although this is mandatory, it is vital part of school life and is something we all have essential roles to play in as the school community.

A key theme for 2026 is embracing “Communication builds Connection”. This is something we are always looking to build on to ensure all members of the community are engaged with school activities and plans. It is a big year ahead with lots of excursions, camps and fun events – the Easter Raffle and Hat Parade are not far away.

We finished the meeting looking at the Indicative Budget for 2026 and supporting areas such as building work, school facilities hire, second hand uniform sales, etc. The school has entered 2026 in a strong financial position.

Our next meeting is on the 21st of April.
