Flying The Flag

Flag Football is a fun, non-contact version of American football and provides a great opportunity to try something different, develop new skills and be part of a team.

Rostrevor College is looking for Loreto students who might be interested in playing Flag Football as part of a mixed team in an upcoming tournament in March 2027. The team will compete in the Under 13 age group, which is open to students born in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

If you are interested in giving Flag Football a go, please click herefor details.

SAPSASA Football

Well done to Courtney, Ella, Evie and Georgia, who represented the East Adelaide zone in the AFLW State Carnival last week. The team played 9 matches over three days at the West Beach Playing Fields. The competition was played at a high standard, but our girls held their own and made valuable contributions to the team.

Rain, Hail or Shine

Well done to all our netball teams who took to the court last Friday night! The heavens opened midway through the Friday evening matches but that didn’t dampen our spirits. It was great to see family members braving the conditions to cheer the girls on, too! Learning to adapt to changing conditions is an important part of playing sport.

Smart Play

Our Year 4 Red netball team has been involved in a couple of thrillers over the last two weeks. They secured a one-goal win over St Joseph's one week, before going down by the same margin to St Pius X the following week.

In our win, the scores were level with less than a minute remaining. The ball spilled out near the goal post at our attacking end, which meant we had a sideline throw-in inside our goal circle. With both opposition circle defenders double-teaming GS Willow, GA Ruby showed some real smarts, passing the ball off the goal post, jumping back onto the court, collecting the loose ball herself and calmly scoring the winning goal. It pays to know the rules!

Sports Round Up

There is plenty more happening this term!

Our AFLW team continues to kick goals on Tuesday afternoons. On Wednesday mornings Ms Woods and Ms Lange have our Year 3 aerobics enthusiasts learning the moves. Our Cricket team is blasting 4s and 6s all over the place on Wednesdays while just down the road the Loreto Slam Dunkers and Loreto Swish basketball teams are shooting the lights out at the State Basketball Centre. On Fridays, our Loreto Blue and Loreto Gold volleyball teams are piling on the points in the Unley Life Be In It school competition while our tennis team is continuing to improve.
