Sports Achievements

Year 8 Girls Netball
Congratulations to our Year 8 Girls Netball teams, who represented the school with pride at the recent interschool sports competition. We were fortunate to take two teams on the day, and both sides displayed exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination both on and off the court.
There were many highlights throughout the tournament, including an exciting victory against a much taller opposition team. In a unique twist, both Strathmore teams progressed to the semi-finals and faced each other for a place in the grand final.
The Strathmore A team advanced to the grand final after a fantastic day of netball. After playing four consecutive games, fatigue began to take its toll, and despite a spirited effort against a strong defensive side, the team narrowly fell short, finishing runners-up by just five goals.
It was a fantastic day of competition, and we are incredibly proud of all the girls for the way they represented our school.
Regional Cross Country Success
The Strathmore cross country team consisting of 40 athletes who qualified, competed at the Western region championships this week. In ideal conditions our athletes demonstrated the self-motivation and perseverance necessary to put in some outstanding performances. Congratulations to the 16 boys and 17-20 girls who both finished second in the team division, this shows the depth of talent we have across the school.
The most outstanding individual performances of the day go to our medal winners. Congratulations to Madie Gilchrist (Gold in 15 girls), Aiden Lowe (Bronze in 15 boys) and Aiden Davis (Silver in 17-20 boys)

Girls Football
Our girls’ football teams have enjoyed a fantastic start to the interschool competition, with all three teams – Junior (Years 7/8), Intermediate (Years 9/10), and Senior (Years 11/12) competing in the first round at Airport West.
The day was a great success, with our students demonstrating excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination against a range of local schools. All three teams performed exceptionally well and successfully progressed through to the second round of competition.
On Wednesday 17 June, the Junior and Senior teams travelled to Werribee to compete at the Western Metro Region Finals. The Senior Girls competed in a challenging five-school round robin format, where they worked tirelessly throughout the day and demonstrated great determination. Their efforts resulted in two wins and two losses, a performance they should be extremely proud of.
The Junior Girls had an outstanding day of competition, displaying tremendous skill and resilience. They came up against several AFL academy schools, including Western Heights, and secured a thrilling victory in a closely contested match. This result saw them advance all the way to the Grand Final against Maribyrnong Sports Academy. Despite a valiant effort, they fell just short and finished as runners-up, an excellent achievement.
The Intermediate Girls will compete in their Round 2 matches in Week 2 of Term 3. Based on their strong performances so far, they are sure to be strong contenders to progress further in the competition and potentially qualify for the state championships.
Congratulations to all students involved for representing the school with pride and enthusiasm. We wish the Intermediate team the very best for their upcoming matches.

We are incredibly proud of their achievements and wish them the best of luck as they continue their netball journey.
A sincere thank you to Eliza Deane and Charlotte Torcasio from Year 9 for their support in coaching the teams and assisting throughout the day. Their leadership, encouragement, and dedication were greatly appreciated by both players and staff.
