Year 9 Japanese Excursion

Japanese Excursion to Melbourne and the Consulate-General of Japan
On Thursday, 21 May, our Year 9 Japanese students enjoyed an educational excursion to Melbourne, visiting the Consulate-General of Japan and taking part in a range of cultural experiences.
At the Consulate-General, students attended a seminar about Japanese schools and education, learned about the role of the Consulate, and explored future pathways for studying Japanese, including exchange programs, tertiary study, and career opportunities.
Students then visited a Japanese restaurant, where they cooked their own lunch, choosing from dishes such as Okonomiyaki (Japanese savoury pancakes), Yakisoba (fried noodles), and Yakimeshi (fried rice). This hands-on experience was a highlight of the day.
Before returning home, students had the opportunity to browse Japanese shops and purchase snacks, stationery, and souvenirs.
The excursion provided valuable cultural insights and brought classroom learning to life, leaving students with a deeper appreciation of Japanese language and culture.
