Battle of the Saints

What a sensational day our school community shared on Saturday at the Battle of the Saints!

While the rousing pre-match address from Chris Joplin may not have quite got the St Peter’s dads over the line, a fantastic day was had by all!

There was plenty happening throughout the day, with the Longest Kick competition at half time, won by Jess Gesterkamp who pipped Jane Ward in the final moments, along with a cake stall, raffle, silent auction, Auskick pre match game, Prosecco bar and BBQ.

The atmosphere was fantastic, and the day was a huge success. It was wonderful to see so many members of our community coming together, getting involved and supporting the event.

A massive congratulations and thank you must go to our wonderful event organisers, Tash Abbondanza and Corrie Camfield, who put so much time and energy into making the day happen. They were ably assisted by Eliza Walker, Jess Gesterkamp, Steph Greco, Joanne Smith and Susan Kempson.

Thank you to everyone who baked, donated, volunteered, participated, cheered from the sidelines and helped make the Battle of the Saints such a memorable day.

Book Week Dress Up Day

What a wonderful Book Week celebration we had last Friday!

Our school community came together dressed as their favourite book characters, creating a wonderful sea of colour, creativity and imagination throughout the school.

Book Week is always such an exciting event on our school calendar, and the incredible assortment of costumes was a wonderful demonstration of the creativity, imagination and broad range of reading interests of our students.  From much loved classics to more recent favourites, it was fantastic to see our students proudly bringing their favourite stories and characters to life.

A bonus to this year's parade was the addition of the Carlisle Homes coffee carts, treating our parents and families to a satisfying morning coffee.

A big thank you to our families for helping make the day so special, and most importantly, for encouraging a love of reading and stories in our children.

Visit from past student and published author Chloe Monoang

Former student from the class of 2025, Chloe Monoang has recently published her first novel, Shipwreck Cove.

As a student at St Peter's, Chloe developed a passion for writing and for sharing her ideas in written form. She has spent many hours completing her first novel, and as she told our students at our Book Week assembly, the book itself was definitely not her first draft. 

Chloe shared what inspires her, what she finds easy and what challenges her in the writing process, when she came back to visit our students and show them what is possible. The current students welcomed Chloe enthusiastically and the Year 6 Assembly team interviewed her with a real passion for discovering her writing secrets.

What a BLAST it was to see Chloe achieving such success at such a young age. We were so grateful she came to visit us and to finish off a really lovely Book Week at St Peter's.

Book Fair Wrap Up

Last week we had our Book Fair, and what a week it was!

It was wonderful to see how much excitement and enthusiasm the Book Fair created across the school. Seeing the students so excited about choosing their books and novelties was truly special. We loved watching our little financial whizzes work out exactly what they could buy with their money, carefully comparing prices and making those very important decisions about whether they could afford a novelty as well, and of course, making sure they went home with their wish lists ready for their parents to purchase the rest!

The incredible support from our parents, families and staff helped make the Book Fair such a success. Their generosity was truly appreciated and made all the hard work worthwhile. We are thrilled that we were able to raise over $3,800 worth of new books for our school library. It is fantastic to know that these new books will be enjoyed by our students for years to come!

Bentleigh District Athletics

Last week 36 students proudly represented St Peter's at the Bentleigh District Athletics Carnival. Our students demonstrated wonderful sportsmanship, determination and resilience as they competed against schools from across the district in a range of track and field events. We are incredibly proud of the way they supported and encouraged one another throughout the day. 

Their hard work and commitment paid off, with St Peter’s finishing an outstanding 2nd overall! Congratulations to all of our athletes on this fantastic achievement, and a special thank you to the staff and families who supported our students and helped make the day such a success.
