Book Week: Where Stories Spark Wonder

Book Week is always a special time in our school community and last week’s celebration was no exception. 

Stories invite us to wonder. They transport us to distant places, introduce us to remarkable people and allow us to see the world through someone else’s eyes. A single story can make us laugh, dream bigger or see something familiar in a completely new way. In this sense, reading is much more than discovering what happens next; it is an invitation to explore, imagine and seek understanding.

This spirit of wonder connects beautifully with our school value of Knowledge. Knowledge begins with curiosity: the desire to ask Why?, How?, What if? Every book we open gives us an opportunity to learn something new. We discover new ideas, encounter different perspectives and build an understanding of the world around us.

During Book Week, we celebrated not only the books we love, but also the lifelong learners we are becoming. Whether we are reading independently, listening to a story, sharing a favourite character or dressing up as someone from a much-loved book, we are celebrating the joy of learning.

Perhaps the greatest gift of stories is that they remind us that there is always more to discover. The world is full of questions, possibilities and perspectives waiting to be explored and books give us a wonderful place to begin.

Every story invites us to open a door, and behind every door is new knowledge waiting to be discovered.

Everyone has heard about the amazing community at St Peter’s and wants to be part of it. If you have family or friends who are interested in a St Peter’s education for their child, encourage them to complete their application ASAP. Places are filling fast for 2026, with limited availability in some year levels.
