Leadership Communication
Dear Families,
End-of-Year Community Gatherings: Celebrating the Season Together
As the year draws to a close, our St Thomas the Apostle school community has been gearing up for a series of exciting events to celebrate the festive season and reflect on the memorable moments of the year. From our heartwarming Christmas carols on Tuesday to both our active fun-filled school camp and excursion for our senior students this week, there has been something for everyone to enjoy as we come closer to the end of our 2024 school year together.
Christmas Carols: A Heartwarming Tradition
One of the most cherished events of the Advent and Christmas season was our Christmas Carols gathering on Tuesday. This festive event brought together our families and friends to share in the joy and significance of the holy season. The sound of familiar carols filled the air as our students took to the stage to perform. It was an incredible opportunity to embrace the spirit of Christmas, sing together and enjoy the warmth (and less rain than anticipated) of our culturally rich community. Whether our students were participating or simply enjoying the performances, this gathering was a highlight of the year reminding us of the importance of community and giving. Thank you to everyone who came along.
School Camp: Adventure and Bonding
The Year Five school campers returned this afternoon from their Gippsland adventure. Their feedback included recounts of joy, humour, fatigue and friendship. This experience offered our students the chance to disconnect from their everyday routines and immerse themselves in nature. The camp was filled with exciting activities, team-building exercises, and unforgettable moments that helped students forge new friendships and strengthen old ones. From hiking through beautiful trails to participating in group challenges, the camp was a fantastic opportunity for both personal growth and creating lasting memories. The experience left everyone feeling connected to one another and recharged for the last week of term for 2024. We thank all involved in making it a wonderful experience for our Year 5 cohort.
Excursion to Bounce: Fun, Energy, and Laughter
For those looking for some high-energy fun, our Year 6 excursion yesterday to Bounce was a huge hit. Students spent the day jumping, flipping, and bouncing their way through an array of exciting activities. From trampolines to dodgeball games and high climbing walls, the venue was the perfect place to release all that youthful energy even on a warm day. It was a day filled with laughter, camaraderie, and fun – a perfect way to round off the school year with a burst of excitement for our outgoing Year 6 cohort.
Looking Ahead
Next week we have our Step-Up day on Tuesday where our students gather in the 2025 community and classes, learning about their teacher for next year and friends joining them in the new year.
We will also celebrate our Year Six students at their Graduation of Primary school on Thursday.
Please see the school calendar link in this newsletter for further details.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kindest regards,
Jen Gulavin
