A 'Tale as old as time' comes to life at PSC

This week, the stage at the Cardinia Cultural Centre in Pakenham has been filled with music, laughter and a touch of enchantment, as Pakenham Secondary College proudly presents its 2025 College Production: Beauty and the Beast Jr.

With Opening Night on Thursday, 28th August, the show was met with a huge response from the audience, who were clearly impressed by what they saw on stage. Students involved - whether performing, working behind the scenes, or contributing through our new set design team - have spent months preparing, and it showed. Their focus, creativity and commitment to bringing this classic story to life has been clear in every moment of the production.

No photo can truly capture the energy and magic of this production, but we’ve included some below to give you a sense of what the audience experienced.

A special part of this year’s show has been the involvement of students from Pakenham Springs Primary School, who joined us on stage during “Be Our Guest” and the Battle scene. Their singing, dancing and acting brought an extra round of applause from the audience. It was a joy to see younger students sharing the stage and having so much fun doing it.

With Closing Night still to come on Friday, 29th August, there’s one more chance to catch what has been a fantastic school production.

A very special thanks goes to our Performing Arts Leader, Genelle Lentini, whose leadership, passion, vision and hard work have made this show possible. Her dedication to the Performing Arts at PSC is something truly special.

We would also like to thank the following very talented staff who gave up so much of their time and expertise for this special production (not in any particular order): Amanda Peterson, Ally Bystersky, Samantha Kelly, Bailey Smith, Kimberley Hawking, Jo-Anne Duggan, Emily Schinzig, Robyn Gramc, Sean Richards, Larissa Feng, Kristina Grumball, Stuart Turner, Gabriel Scheepers - and a special mention to Ayesha Sandhu, Indigo James and, from Pakenham Springs Primary School, Esther Priestley.

Thanks also to all the amazing staff, students and families who have supported the show in so many ways. It really has been an enormous team effort.

To everyone involved: Thank you so much. You've created something our school can be immensely proud of. We can’t wait to see what the next production brings - the bar has been set very high, and they just keep getting better each year.

The event will be held at the Cardinia Cultural Centre (40 Lakeside Blvd, Pakenham) on Wednesday 8th October at 6:00pm.

This is a great chance for our students to get on stage, perform in front of a live audience, and show off all the hard work they’ve been putting into their music this year.
