Message from our School Council

We had a fantastic School Council meeting on Tuesday, 19th August, full of exciting updates and proud moments for our school community.

Here is our School Council's 'Top 5' message:

CELEBRATING NAPLAN GROWTH

One of the standout moments was celebrating our incredible NAPLAN growth. Kate Logan presented the data, explaining the story behind the numbers and how they’re calculated. A major highlight was, our school has been ranked the TOP SCHOOL for High Relative Growth in Reading (Years 7–9) over a three-year average, among similar schools in Victoria! This recognition is a testament to the school’s unwavering focus on student growth - something the school is committed to.

REFLECTIONS ON THE SCHOOL REVIEW

Aaron, Jarni, and Eric shared their experiences with the recent School Review, offering insights from their perspectives as Principal, School Council President, and Parent. The process was thorough, inclusive, and reflective—with whole school community feedback genuinely valued. The exciting outcome of this work is our new Strategic Plan, which will guide the development of Annual Implementation Plans in the years ahead.

WELCOMING NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS

We’re thrilled to announce that our School Council has grown! A warm welcome to Kim and Eric, who join us as parent representatives, and to Darren, who comes on board as a co-opted Community Member. We’re grateful for the time, energy, and fresh ideas they’ll bring to the table—thank you in advance for your contributions!

INTERNATIONAL INSIGHTS FROM VIETNAM AND CAMBODIA

Aaron also gave us an engaging glimpse into his recent international tour to Vietnam and Cambodia as part of the International Education Delegation. He shared reflections on the educational systems abroad and his hopes for how this experience will positively influence our school's international student enrolments. Plus, we got to enjoy a few behind-the-scenes snaps of Aaron in action—great to see him representing us on the global stage!

YEAR 12 FORMAL FUN

And finally, the Year 12 Formal sounds like it was an absolute hit—for students and teachers alike! There were whispers of a lively dance-off between some talented students and a few, let’s say, less experienced dancers (no names mentioned!). To ensure the success of future events, planning for the 2026 Formal will start earlier, helping avoid any potential hiccups.

Thank you for reading our School Council ‘Top 5’ message!
