Library Matters

Let the countdown to Book Week / Literacy and Numeracy Week begin!

With just a few days left of the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge and the Rip Roaring Reading Challenge, the Library is buzzing with excitement - not just about the incredible reading progress students have made, but also about what’s coming next… Book Week!

Starting Monday 1st September, our school will be celebrating Book Week, along with Literacy and Numeracy Week with a range of fun and engaging activities to get everyone involved. From a staff dress-up parade (see the photo from last year's event), author visit,  and 'Where did a book take you' activity, there’s something for every kind of reader to enjoy. Stay tuned for the full schedule of events - we promise it’s going to be a week to remember!

As we mentioned in our last update, reading isn’t just an academic skill - it’s a lifelong habit that builds vocabulary, boosts critical thinking and helps reduce stress. Most importantly, it’s fun. Whether students have been turning pages or swiping screens, we’ve loved seeing the enthusiasm grow across the school as everyone dives into stories they love.

A huge well done to all students participating in the reading challenges - there are just a few days left before they officially end on 1st September, so make sure to log your final reads and claim those last rewards!

Let’s keep the reading momentum going and make Book Week 2025 our best one yet!
