In the Moment

ANZAC Day
To mark ANZAC day, the Kilvington community came together across both Junior and Senior Schools. At the Junior School Assembly, Lieutenant Cristian Vancea of the Royal Australian Navy, and Kilvington parent, shared a heartfelt address and recited the Ode of Remembrance. While Year 11’s Sinclair McClimont performed The Last Post and The Rouse.
At the Senior School Assembly, students reflected on the service and sacrifice of soldiers and their families, many of whom were not much older than themselves. The Principal also shared the story of one of the School’s founders during World War I, and students laid red poppies along the Lillimur Road fence in remembrance. Lest we forget.
Junior School Colour Blast
Our younger students took full advantage of the last sunny days of autumn to take part in a colourful obstacle course while raising funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia.
With plenty of energy and colour along the way, students embraced the afternoon while supporting an important cause. The event raised more than $11,000 for Starlight, supporting the important work they do for seriously ill children and their families.
Thank you to our students, staff and families who supported the event and helped make the day possible.
Mother's Day Celebrations
This year the Kilvington community celebrated Mother’s Day with a series of special events across Junior School, Senior School, and the ELC. Families came together for the much loved Mother’s Day Breakfast - a big thank you to our PFA volunteers for creating such a beautiful morning.
In the ELC, children welcomed mothers and special friends into classrooms to share their learning, reading, and to get a little messy with the paint and playdough.
All groups performed special songs and dances with their mums and special friends, including a wonderful rendition of the hokey pokey from the Magnolia group. To round off a lovely morning, all children presented a beautiful gift to their mothers and special friends made with lots of love.
Other Worlds: Kilvington Literature Festival
Inspired by this year’s theme Other Worlds, Senior School celebrated Kilvington Literature Festival, enjoying presentations from a line-up of exceptional Australian writers. Years 7 and 8 students met local author and librarian Karys McEwen, while Year 9 students were captivated by slam poet Solli Raphael.
Year 10 students heard from screenwriter and author Cath Moore, and Years 11 and 12 students were inspired by best-selling fantasy and science fiction author, Amie Kaufman. Senior students also participated in a lunchtime poetry workshop with Marjan Mossammaparast, and a prose workshop with novelist Kate Mildenhall.
A special thanks to our formidable English captains, Liam Eliav and Emma Gracey, for their efforts championing the festival this year.
