On the Sporting Field

It has been a huge start to the term for Kilvington Sport, particularly for our Year 8–9 and Senior teams, with a number of sides progressing through to Semi-Finals and Grand Finals.

It was fantastic to see nine teams competing during Grand Final Week, with four teams ultimately claiming Premiership victories. Congratulations to all students and coaches involved in such a successful season.

Senior Girls and Boys Basketball led the way, and an enthralling Tennis match which saw Kilvington take home its first Senior Tennis trophy in years!

Once again Kilvington showed terrific fighting sprit in our matches and as always held up the values of respect and empathy towards others, even in the heat of battle.

Year 7

It has also been an excellent beginning to the season for our Year 7 Kilvington teams, with many sides currently sitting inside the top two with one round remaining before Grand Final Week. We wish all of our Year 7 students the very best as they continue through their first Senior School sporting season.

Cross Country

Congratulations to our amazing Years 3–6 Cross Country team! On Wednesday 13 May, 50 of our Years 3 - 6 students travelled to Elsternwick Park to represent Kilvington at the Balaclava District Cross Country Carnival. Our students have been training hard after school and on Friday mornings, showing outstanding enthusiasm, commitment and dedication throughout the season.

We were lucky to enjoy perfect sunny weather on the day, and our team achieved fantastic results, competing against 7 other schools in the district and proudly winning the Small Schools Trophy!

A special congratulations to Year 4 student Ralph Hopkins, who placed 3rd in the 10-year-old age group and will now go on to represent the Balaclava District later this month. What an incredible achievement! A big thank you to our coaches and staff for supporting the students, attending the day and cheering on our awesome team. We are so proud of everyone involved!

Athletics

Our Athletics team is now in full preparation mode ahead of the Division 1 EISM Athletics Carnival at Lakeside Stadium on Monday 18 May. Students have been training hard twice a week at Duncan MacKinnon Reserve, and we extend a very big thank you to Emma McLaren for her outstanding organisation and leadership of the 82 students representing Kilvington on the day. We wish all competitors the very best of luck.

Finally, best wishes to all students involved in our Season 2 sports as we head into the winter months. Trials have been taking place over the past few weeks, and we look forward to another exciting and successful season ahead.

Swimming

At the prestigious Victorian Schools Association Competition held at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Kilvington was proudly represented by Ben Huang and Lucas Wang, who competed at the highest level of school swimming in Victoria.

Selected as part of the combined EISM representative team, Ben and Lucas competed against some of the state’s strongest school sporting associations, including the APS, GSV and AGSV.

Both students performed exceptionally well and represented both Kilvington and the EISM with pride. Ben Huang delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 3rd in both the 4 x 50m Breaststroke Relay and the 4 x 50m Medley Relay. He also achieved an incredible 4th place in the state in the individual 50m Breaststroke event.

Lucas Wang also swam strongly for the EISM team, competing in two relay events and helping the team secure an impressive 5th place finish in the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay.

Congratulations to both Ben and Lucas on their fantastic achievements and for representing the school so admirably on the state stage.
