Term 3 - Years 5 and 6

Welcome to our latest class update! The children have had a remarkably busy few weeks and have been throwing themselves into every activity with fantastic energy and focus. Here is a look at what we have been up to across the curriculum and wider school life:

• Mathematics: We have turned our attention to division recently. The children have worked unbelievably hard on what can often be a tricky topic. To keep our understanding sharp and engaging, we have been using learning rotations during our lessons—combining retrieval practice to lock in prior learning alongside some brilliant maths games that have made applying our skills great fun.
• Literacy: Having successfully wrapped up our work on fables, we have now transitioned into the world of non-fiction. The class is busy researching and writing information reports on Ancient Egypt. It has been lovely to see their enthusiasm for history shine through in their formal writing.

• Science: We have been exploring the powerful forces of natural disasters. The children have thoroughly enjoyed investigating how earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis occur, leading to some lively classroom discussions.
• Community Visits: Every other Friday, our visits to Richardson House and Garvin House continue to be an absolute highlight. These visits give the children a wonderful opportunity to build their social skills and confidence, while bringing plenty of joy to the residents. The children are wonderful ambassadors for our school.
• Debating: A huge congratulations to our school debate team, who put on a magnificent performance at their recent fixture. They spoke with confidence and clarity, and it was equally heartwarming to see the rest of the class cheering them on and offering brilliant support.
