Tenielle McGurie: Year 12 Star of the Sea
We would like to congratulate Tenielle McGuire on receiving the Spirit Award at Star of the Sea!
This award recognises a student who has shown outstanding commitment, effort, achievement, leadership and dedication in the areas of Academic Endeavour, Sporting Endeavour, Justice, Service, Liturgy & Outreach, and Cultural Endeavour. This award celebrates students who go above and beyond participation and strive for excellence and make meaningful contributions to their school community. The nominations Tenielle received have accumulated over her 5 years at Star of the Sea. This award gives recognition and shows great strength and growth.
St Kilda Football Club MAP First Nations & Multicultural Scholarship
Laelani Gumbula (Year 10), Hayley Rioli (Year 9), Cataleya McLennan (Year 9) & Victoria Bonson (Year 9) Firbank Grammar School
The MAP Scholarship Program supports First Nations and multicultural young people through financial assistance, leadership development, cultural learning, and mentoring opportunities. The program helps participants build confidence, resilience, community connections, and pathways in both sport and life while reducing barriers to participation in football.
Scholarship participants completed workshops that focused on leadership, resilience, cultural awareness, and personal development. Participants also can be mentored and learn from AFL players, coaches and community leaders and mentors. These activities strengthen connection to culture, identity, education and community.
On Friday the 4th of September, Laelani, Cataleya, Hayley and Victoria graduated from the program and have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. We would like to thank St Kilda Football Club, Moorabbin Airport, Laurel Hewetson and Leon Alao for all their support during this program.
The Victorian Catholic Education Authority (VCEA) - 2026 Year 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Graduation:
Lailani Bransden and Tenielle Mcguire – Star of the Sea
On Friday the 4th of September, Lailani Bransden and Tenielle McGuire where invited to attend the VCEA Year 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Graduation.
The Victorian Catholic Education Authority (VCEA) hosts an annual Graduation Recognition Dinner to celebrate and recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who are completing Year 12 at Catholic schools across Victoria. The event brings together students, families, Elders, community members and education leaders to acknowledge students' academic achievements, cultural identity, resilience and future aspirations.
The graduation celebration highlights the importance of supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to succeed in their education while maintaining strong connections to culture, family and Country. Students are recognised for their hard work and commitment and are encouraged as they transition into further study, training, employment and community leadership.
Congratulations to Tenielle and Lailani as they begin to wrap up their high school journey.
Year 12 update and shoutout
As we come to the end of term 3, we also come to the end of formal coursework for our Year 12 students. Lots of nerves and excitement as our Year 12 students are coming to the end of their school journey and are looking at what their next chapter of their journey will look like.
MITS and our Pathways schools will be in contact over the next week to discuss logistics regarding Year 12 Graduation Ceremonies at our Pathways Schools.
All Year 12 students are expected to return at the beginning of Term 4 (Monday the 5th of October).
