VISUAL ARTS YEAR 8 ART ELEMENTS

The year 8 students have been working diligently unpacking the art ingredients – LINE, SHAPE, TONE, TEXTURE, SHAPE and PATTERN.

Their first folio piece is dedicated to a focus point, that being a subject of nature – leaf, flower or plant. The rest of the composition is broken into fragments representing these elements, each executed with a different medium.

These A3 size creations will be on display soon for everyone to enjoy and admire in the main school corridor.

It has been an absolute honour for our Westall icreate Landscape and Design students, to have worked with the artwork of renowned Australian artist Anthony Breslin. The project has been a work in progress since 2024, and now in 2025 the installation complete. A huge thank you to the man behind the scenes, meticulously measuring and curating the final installation - Alex Kourkouridis.

It was so exciting to see our home Westall video of the final installation on the artists very own Instagram page!

VISUAL ARTS YEAR 8 - Surrealism

The students in Year 8 have enjoyed learning about the Surrealist art movement, in particular the world of artist Rene Magritte. The students have demonstrated enthusiasm towards his mis match of subjects and still life, representing the human mind of the every day abstract thoughts. Their preliminary drawings are works in progress, which will be executed on plywood.
