Welcome to Term 3!

Welcome back to another exciting term! We have had a wonderful start to Term 3 and have been busy learning, creating, connecting and exploring across all areas of the curriculum.

In Writing, we have begun exploring narrative writing and are developing our own exciting adventure stories. Students have been learning how to use ‘show, don’t tell’ to add detail and description to their writing. We have been focusing on choosing interesting vocabulary and describing characters, settings and events in ways that help our readers picture the story and feel part of the adventure.

In History, we have been learning about Aboriginal history and culture, developing our understanding and appreciation of the rich history, traditions and knowledge of Aboriginal peoples. We have also been enjoying learning some local Kamilaroi/Gamilaroi language with Ms Rhodes. Students have particularly enjoyed learning the song ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’ in language, which has been a fun way to practise new words and pronunciation while connecting language learning with movement and music.

In Science, we have begun learning about the water cycle and exploring the importance of water in sustaining all life on Earth. Students have been investigating how water moves through the environment through processes such as evaporation, condensation and precipitation. We have also been discussing why water is such a precious resource and the importance of using and caring for it responsibly. 

We have also been enjoying our community connections this term. Our visits to Preschool have been a highlight, where we enjoy reading stories with the younger children and sharing our love of books. We have also continued our visits to Richardson House and Garvin House. This term, we have teamed up with Years 5/6, allowing us to visit the residents at both homes. These visits provide a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with members of our local community, share stories and build meaningful relationships.

It has been a fantastic start to Term 3, and we are looking forward to continuing our learning, building our knowledge and challenging ourselves throughout the term!
