Term 3 - Years 1 and 2

Term 3 can be challenging due to the very cold weather and having to wear so many clothes. However, Years 1 and 2 have kept their brains warm with all their learning and achieved tasks. We have used our unit of weather in Geography to create fabulous art work of a variety of different weather events. What fabulous wind and rain we had this week to provide the opportunity for an in-depth discussion about the weather.

In Religion we have listened and responded to two Parables: The Treasure and the Pearl; and the Parable of the Yeast. Following this, we reflected on what it means for something to be considered precious and what is precious to us.

We have been using our strong clear voices in PDH following our discussions about our bodies and private parts. So if you hear/see them practising:

1.  NO GO TELL or
2. You’re not my mum/dad

That is where it has come from.

During our literacy block in writing, we are back to creating narratives. It is a  wonderful time when we can share our ideas with each other. We do this during our ‘think pair share’ time and during news. This helps to support anyone who is stuck for an idea or develops ideas they already have. This week was also our ‘Cold Write’ task, a narrative about finding an object and the adventure that follows. Everyone was able to come up with their own ideas. Great job!

Multiplication was our first unit for maths. We began with making equal groups and developed this skill into creating arrays. For example: 

3 groups of 5 = 15

5 rows of 3 columns = 15

For the assessment, we created rows of vegetables and recorded how many we had in each row.

This term for sport we have the opportunity to go to the Bicentennial Hall to learn some more basketball skills. It is a great chance to refresh the skills we mastered last year.
