Saint Carlo Acutis

Bishop Peter Murphy has had the vision of the millennial Saint Carlo Acutis being accessible to the young people of our diocese to inspire faith and to turn their gaze toward God. To that end he has purchased resources that make up a travelling exhibition of St Carlo Acutis including an actual relic.

The St Carlo Acutis travelling exhibition of life, works and relics began on October 12, 2025 and has continued to pilgrimage around the diocese to schools and parishes across the Diocese throughout 2026.

On Thursday this week we welcomed the St Carlo Acutis team from the Immaculata Community in Armidale to St Joseph's Barraba where they shared a powerpoint presentation of St Carlo's life story, miracles associated with him and his vast life's work of documenting Eucharistic miracles. Each class had the opportunity to read through the extensive exhibition, to write a prayer and to pray and reflect.

The Angelus

At our school, we cherish the moments where we can pause as a community to connect with God and reflect on our faith. Prayer occurs in our school everyday. One of these special traditions is the praying of the Angelus. Traditionally prayed at noon, the Angelus is a beautiful, centuries old Catholic prayer that commemorates the Incarnation, the moment God became man in Jesus Christ through Mary's "yes." As a school we will be praying the Angelus. In the midst of our busy school day, our students and staff will stop what they are doing, quiet their minds, and spend a few moments in shared prayer. It is a wonderful daily reminder for all about God’s constant presence in our lives, teaching the value of mindfulness, gratitude, and daily reflection.

Year 6 Religion Test

Every year students across the Diocese sit the RE year 6 test. This test includes a variety of topics covered in the RE lessons from classroom learning. As is now tradition, following the test the Year 6 students were treated to a unique view of our church by visiting the choir.  Well done to our students who sat this test on Tuesday, and for braving the steps to the choir!
