Prayer to Saint Carlo Acutis

Saint Carlo, friend of Jesus, help me to grow in love for Jesus and his presence in the Eucharist, to seek Him with a pure heart, and to offer my daily life to Him. 

I ask that you intercede for me that I may have strength and courage to follow Christ with joy.

Amen.

Our Catholic Identity

What Catholics do and why we do it!  A word or two about relics. 

Relics are special items that are connected to saints or holy people. They can be parts of their bodies, like bones or hair - these are classified as first class relics, or things they used, like clothing or tools - these are second class relics. Relics remind us of the lives of particular saints and their strong faith in God. They help us remember the amazing things these holy people did.

Mission and Liturgy

The highlight of Term 2 occurred in the last week of term with the visit of the International Eucharistic Miracles Exhibition First Class Relic of St Carlo Acutis. All our students and many staff had the privilege of hearing about St Carlo and his first class relic, his heart pericardium, from Monsignor Anthony Figueiredo from Assisi. During the Monsignor’s  presentation our students had the opportunity to pray in front of a first class relic and write prayer intentions which Monsignor Anthony would take back to Assisi and place under St Carlo’s glass tomb in which his body is on display wearing an everyday Nike sweatshirt, blue jeans, and casual sneakers. His hair is curly, and his hands are wrapped around a Rosary.

For the remainder of the week, junior RE classes spent a lesson taking a close look at Carlo’s Eucharistic Miracles Exhibition which was set up and presented by the Immaculata Team from Armidale. This was followed by a short experience of Eucharistic adoration. St Carlo’s love for the Eucharist extended to daily Eucharistic Adoration. This experience allowed our students to make a direct connection between the material presented in the exhibition and the Eucharist present in our churches.
