Principal's Report
Kaylene Kubeil

Congratulations to Allie and Quinn (along with their Assistant Principal Levi and Madelyn), who were Principals for the morning on Monday. They all did an excellent job of supporting me in undertaking my role for the day. This is a valuable way to develop student voice, agency and leadership. It allows students to experience responsibility and gain an understanding of the role of school leadership. This experience builds confidence, communication skills and a sense of belonging, while reinforcing that students' ideas and perspectives are valued. Importantly, it encourages students to see themselves as capable leaders who can positively influence their school community. Again, Well Done!
Be sure to check out the Sport Page of 'Primary Post' as our Year 3/4 girls Hoop Time team heads off to the State Finals. A huge congratulations to the players and coaches.
We are very proud of your teamwork and the way you represented WPS!

Important Information for Families
The Victorian Department of Education is introducing changes to student reporting from Semester 1, 2027, to make school reports clearer, more consistent, and easier for families to understand. These changes will apply to all Victorian government schools, including Whittlesea Primary School, and will introduce a more consistent approach to communicating student achievement and learning progress.
From 2027, student reports will follow a standardised reporting format that provides families with clearer information about their child's learning. Reports will include:
Families will continue to receive formal student reports twice each year, at the end of Semester 1 and Semester 2. The Department states that the updated format will provide a clearer picture of where students are in their learning and how they are progressing over time. We will provide further information to families ahead of the Semester 1, 2027 reporting period, including guidance on understanding the new report format. Our commitment remains unchanged: to provide families with meaningful, accurate information about their child's learning and progress, while maintaining strong communication between home and school.

As the weather has been warmer and some of our flowers have started to bloom, we have seen an increase in bees aroudn the school. If your child has any kind of bee allergy, please ensure it is reflected in our first aid records. Please contact the office and ask to speak to Kim if your child has any bee-related conditions/reactions.

I would like to share that one of our Education Support staff members, Ms Madison Brown, will be leaving us, as she has secured an ongoing position at Wallan Primary School. We sincerely thank Madi for all her work at the school, and we wish Madi all the best as she continues in her studies and career journey in teaching and education.

I would also like to congratulate the following appointments who will make up the school leadership team, joining the Principal team of myself, Mrs Gittos, and Mr Kirkright.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Kaylene
