Thank you to all the staff listed above that are assisting with coaching a team this term.

The best form of communication we have with parent/guardians is via the Parent Access Module (PAM). Students require permission to participate in all sport. Parent/guardians will receive the information through a PAM activity permission. Please ensure that you read the information prior to giving permission and that you also talk to students about the information.

The daily messages are one of the best ways we can distribute information to students about sports that are on offer and where sign-up meetings will be held. Students should check the daily messages regularly.

Once students have signed up for a sport, we will be adding them into a MS Teams group where they can communicate directly with their coach. Students must communicate with their coach if they are unavailable for a match so we can find a replacement to ensure we have a full team for each match.

If students are unsure of how to sign up for a sport or want more information, they can visit sports staff in the gymnasium.

BAS 2nd XI: SPC Blue v Ballarat Clarendon College

Losing the toss, SPC Blue were sent in to bat and both of our openers Patrick Martin 12 and Luke Irvin 17 got the side off to a solid start. With Martin holing out to a full toss, Aayush Ahlawat came to the crease and resolved to remain the backbone of the SPC Blue score remaining right through to the end of the twentieth over to remain unbeaten on 15n.o.

Will Chamings showed the Clarendon attack that boundaries were possible to hit scoring a rapid fire and highly entertaining 14 before he ran himself out at the end of the innings. It was a slow outfield, so with very tight bowling and no missed opportunities in the field; a positive SPC Blue performance with the ball could restrict the Clarendon batting to below our modest total of 6/76.

Our opening bowlers Patrick Martin 0/15 off 4 and Lochie Patterson 1/4 off 3 included his first delivery bowling of the Clarendon opener! Thomas Sharp led the first bowling rotation bowling excellently capturing 2/12 off 3 overs further adding to the tension of the match.

We were off to a great start with Clarendon sitting on 30 runs after the first 10 overs with four wickets down. Unfortunately, the Clarendon number 6 batsman came and took over full control of the match hitting repeated fours to all parts of the ground and remained not out to see the Clarendon College total reach 5/79 at the end of the 18th over.

I was very proud of how well the SPC Blue side performed considering we were short two players in the field and look forward to the side finally achieving the success they all are longing for. Will Chamings bowled economically recording 0/4 off 2 overs whilst Riley Shearson 0/12 off 2 and Aayush Ahlawat 0/18 off 2 and Luke Wiedemann 0/9 wore the brunt of the Clarendon onslaught.

Final Scores: SPC Blue 6/76 off 20 overs defeated by Ballarat and Clarendon College 5/79 off 18 overs.

Rowing

Rowing season has officially started with our six Intermediate crews (Year 9) attending our first regatta - the Lauriston Schoolboys & Schoolgirls event - on the Barwon River at Geelong.

Under clear blue skies, we won the Year 9 Division 1 and Division 2 coxed quad scull races. Well done, boys. What a fantastic start to the season!

SPC Sport Uniform

All sport uniforms can be purchased at Dobson's Ballarat retail shop in Mair St East. Students need to ensure they are in the correct uniform to participate. The general sport uniform is the navy polo top, navy shorts and white socks. Certain sports will require very specific clothing e.g. Soccer will need to purchase SPC soccer shorts and socks, and Basketball will need to purchase SPC Basketball shorts. Students should check with their coach as to what is required. Also remember to wear sunscreen at all times outdoors.

I wish all students and coaches the best in Term 4. Always play the game in the right spirit, wear the correct uniform and respect the facilities, home and away. St Patrick’s College is steeped in sporting tradition, and you are encouraged to add more chapters to our past endeavours.

Please do not hesitate to contact me (jlappin@stpats.vic.edu.au) or our Sports Administrator Mr Simon Dwyer (sdwyer@stpats.vic.edu.au) at the College with any questions.
