Clontarf Academy

Mr David Friebel, Clontarf Academy Director

The last fortnight has seen a big focus on preparations for the upcoming Clontarf State for Origin Carnival. With 13 players from the St Pat's academy in the team, we have been able to hone the skills and get some touch with some great training runs happening before and after school. This is a big event on the Clontarf calendar and our boys have been working hard to ensure they shine on the big stage.

We have had another busy fortnight on the employment front with Worksite visits to Reece, Coates, Forestry Fire Management and Fulton Hogan. It’s important our boys get exposure to a range of industry so when the time comes to choose a pathway post school, they can make an educated choice. Clontarf’s partners continue to show amazing support in this space, giving the boys hands on experiences to show what a particular job is all about.

For our ‘Friday Faffle’ we hosted another of Clontarf’s partners in BCF. The Friday Faffle is a great way to bring the boys together and celebrate the achievements of our boys. A ticket is allocated to one of our boys for each morning training or afternoon activity they join in on, if they have 100 per cent attendance for the week, for a ‘deadly deed’ (academic achievements). It's an exciting moment when the wheel is spun to get our winner. Last week Jon and Nicole from BCF donated and presented Cliffy Ogilvie a Yeti Water Cooler for taking out the Faffle.
