Choir
There are still some exciting performance opportunities ahead for our Cavendish Primary School Choir!
Our next opportunity is South West Sing at the Warrnambool Show on Saturday 31 October. Children under 15 can attend the Show for free, making this a wonderful opportunity for our young singers to perform and enjoy the day.
We have been learning our three songs during class time — Yellow Submarine, Nanuma and Try Everything — and we are looking forward to performing alongside other young singers from across the region!
I need to confirm our final numbers by Monday 21 September, so please let me know if your child would like to take part.
We also have another exciting performance opportunity coming up in November, as part of a combined community spectacular at the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre.
Cavendish Primary School is one of three primary schools taking part in the combined choir, alongside Good Shepherd College and Hamilton Alexandra College.
The performance will be held on Sunday 22 November, so please mark the date in your calendar. We can't wait to be part of this very special musical event!
Drama
It's official! Our original student-created play, Mysterious Mayhem, is coming to life!
The students have worked alongside AI technology to conceptualise, develop and create their own original play. They have now begun learning their lines and stepping into character as we prepare for another unmissable performance.
It has been wonderful to see their confidence, creativity and enthusiasm growing each week. I was especially impressed with our Years 3–5 students recently, who were able to remember their lines and launch straight into them when cued by the line before — well done! This is exactly the kind of progress we love to see during the rehearsal process.

Music
Our Music lessons continue to be filled with plenty of playing, moving and making music!
Students are developing their rhythm, dexterity and fine and gross motor skills through a range of instrumental activities. I have been particularly impressed with the progress our Foundation–Year 2 students are making with the recorder.
Everyone has now mastered the A and B notes, with some students also beginning to confidently play G. We are working hard on playing softly, carefully and in time with one another — some very important skills for any young musician!
This week, we also had the shakers out and were busy moving and grooving to the music. There was plenty of rhythm, movement and, most importantly, plenty of fun!
Dance
We certainly love having a groove in Performing Arts!
This term, students have been learning a variety of dance styles and movements, from the Heel & Toe Polka and The Chicken Dance through to some energetic Hip Hop.
Dance has also been cleverly woven into our original play, Mysterious Mayhem. Incorporating movement and choreography into the production is a great way to break up the drama and dialogue, while giving students another opportunity to express their characters and personalities on stage.
It's fantastic to see students becoming more confident performers as they learn to use their voices, bodies and facial expressions to communicate with an audience.
