Loddon Mallee Regional Hockey Champs!
For the second year in succession, our Girls Hockey team has been crowned LM Region Champions!
The girls were clearly the most dominant team on the day, remaining undefeated across their two games and finishing with an impressive 12–2 goal differential. They began the tournament with a strong 4–1 victory over Boort, before backing it up with a fantastic 8–1 win against St Pauls Mildura. The team now progresses to the State Final, which will be held on Thursday, 10 September, at the Footscray Hockey Complex.
I would sincerely like to thank Narelle Dalley for coaching the girls and preparing them so well for the tournament. Narelle has a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to hockey, and the girls have certainly improved significantly in a short period of time.
I would also like to thank Mr Parkes, who travelled to Swan Hill with the girls to support them throughout the tournament.
Congratulations to the girls on an outstanding achievement, and best of luck at the State Final!
Footy Colours Day – Monday 7th September
It's the Fight Cancer Foundation’s most important national fundraising event. We are encouraging all students to wear their team’s colours and join in with the special activities. We are also asking that you please make a gold coin donation OR visit the link below to help support young people fighting cancer.

Student will have a shortened lunchbreak (10.45-11.15am) and then walk down to the Spring Gully Soccer fields for a variety of football based activities from 11:30am-1pm. The activities will include: kicking, marking, handballing, goal kicking, longest kick competition, tackling bags and mini games. South Bendigo Football Club players and AFL Central Victoria staff will be in attendance to assist with the activities. The activities will conclude with the annual parent/staff vs Grade 6 football match for the 'Stevo Cup'. All parents are welcome to join in the football match.
Families who have already provided consent for their child/children to participate in local excursions via COMPASS do not need to provide further consent for this event.
Judo Champions!
Congratulations to brothers Jack and Charlie Ryan, who have both achieved fantastic results in recent Judo Victoria tournaments in Melbourne.
Jack won the gold medal, while Charlie took home the silver medal in their respective age groups.
Well done, boys! Keep up the fantastic work!

Grade Preps have started a new topic this on Family. Signs they are learning include: family, mum, dad, sister, brother, baby, boy, girl, grandmother, grandfather, aunty, uncle, cousin. The preps enjoyed drawing detailed Family Portraits and we are using these to sign sentences to the class for students to try to interpret simple sentences about family members.
Grade 1-2s have started their new topic on Transport & Travel. They are learning new signs, including transport/travel, car, bike, scooter/skateboard, roller blades, roller skates, motorbike, plane, helicopter, boat, caravan, bus, van, fire engine, police car, ambulance, train and truck. Grade 1-2s have enjoyed playing a Transport picture board game to practise signing transport signs they land on.
The Grade 3-4 students have also started a new topic on Meal Times, Food & Drinks. New signs they are learning include: food/eat, drink, breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning tea, afternoon tea, coffee, tea, milk, water, juice, sugar, cake, biscuits, and fruit, knife, fork, spoon, plate, bowl and cup. They are also learning a range of foods for their meal times, and they will be signing their Term 3 Learning Tasks based on these signs.
Grade 5-6s have finished their topic on: People and Describing Myself, learning signs including: he, she, they, mine, yours, theirs, boy, girl, child, children, adult, man, woman/lady, person, people. They revised signs learned previously for Describing Myself, including hair colour and styles, and eye colour. The Grade 5-6s enjoyed drawing different profile pictures of people and giving a description of a character from a movie/book, a teacher or class member to sign for their peers to try and interpret, and guess who?!
Grade 5-6s have started a new topic on Medical and Health signs, including: doctor, nurse, hospital, emergency, ambulance, injection, operation, sick, nausea, vomiting, temperature, band-aid, better, help you/help me, phone, tablet, medicine, sneeze, cough, fever, exercise, energy, xray.
